»What to know about Rishikesh and Tapovan?

Rishikesh is divided by the Ganga River, offering two main areas for yoga schools: TAPOVAN and LAXMAN JHULA.

Tapovan: This area is bustling with life, filled with cafes, shops, yoga schools and constructions. It’s perfect for those who want to stay connected with the community and have access to amenities.

Laxman Jhula: This area is quieter and more secluded. You will also find a few cafes and some shops along the way.

The famous Laxman Jhula bridge IS CLOSED due to unsafely declarations, but you can cross to the other side of the river by joining one of the boats for 40 rupees, or crossing the other bridges available.

The ULTIMATE QUIZ to find the perfect school of yoga (FOR FREE!)

While doing my research I designed the perfect quiz and today I want to HELP YOU by sharing it with you FOR FREE!

Here you have the best questions that helped me to find the best yoga course and school:

1.WHAT TYPE OF EXPERIENCE ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

A) Retreat: If you’re seeking relaxation and rejuvenation, a yoga retreat is perfect. It offers a more laid-back experience with a focus on well-being and leisure.
BEST FOR: a couple of days up to 1 week.

B) Certification Course: Look for a course that offers Yoga Alliance certification. You can choose a 100-hour, 200-hour, 300-hour, or 500-hour course.
**Note that you must complete the 200-hour course before enrolling in the 300-hour or 500-hour courses**

C) Yoga Course for the Experience: If you’re interested in the experience rather than certification, you can still opt for a certified course or stay in an ashram. Ashrams provide a traditional and communal living environment where you can deeply immerse yourself in yoga and spiritual practices while learning.

🔥 NOTE: The best part is that you don’t have to be a yoga expert to join one of the courses. They are all suitable for any level!

2.WHAT STYLE OF YOGA?

The schools offer a wide variety of styles to choose from. If you are new to yoga or unsure which style to choose, I recommend trying a few classes in your hometown to discover your favourite. Here are some popular options to course:

A) Multi-style: a comprehensive program that integrates various yoga styles, techniques, meditation and philosophies to provide a broad and versatile yoga practice.

B) Hatha Yoga: Focuses on physical postures and breath control, suitable for beginners.

C) Ashtanga Yoga: A dynamic and rigorous practice involving a set sequence of postures.

D) Vinyasa Yoga: Flowing movements synchronized with breath, offering a dynamic and creative practice.

E) Kundalini Yoga: Combines physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation to awaken energy.

3.HOW MANY DAYS DO YOU HAVE AVAILABLE?

Consider the duration of your stay:

Up to 7 or days: Retreats or short courses lasting a few days to a week.

From 10 to 26 days: 100-hour or 200-hour courses, typically lasting 2-4 weeks.

More than 28 days: 300-hour or 500-hour courses, lasting up to 8 weeks or more.

4.OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER:

A) Syllabus: Check the program and schedule to ensure it resonates with you, considering the topics covered and the timing, as these courses can be intense.

B) Teachers: Seek out qualified teachers with experience and knowledge. Some teachers may teach at multiple schools, so research their credentials.

C) Facilities/Food: Whether you are looking for a private room or to share a room to save a bit, ensure the facilities are comfortable and the food provided is suitable for your dietary needs.
Most of the schools offers VEGAN, VEGETARIAN, GLUTEN FREE options.

D) What’s Included/Other Activities: Many programs include additional activities or days off for free time. Make sure to check what’s included in the course fee.
